MP8 is Meyer Pharmaceutical’s lead product for Cytokine Receptor Regulation.  It is a biological agent (a protein about 35 kDa in size) designed for administration by injection.  It adjusts the natural balance of released TNF and IL-6 receptors to dampen the inflammatory process.

MP8 is a highly effective anti-inflammatory agent in the following animal models:

• Carrageenan induced paw edema
• Collagen induced arthritis (CIA)
• Passive (antibody-induced) arthritis
• LPS induced sepsis
• Experimentally induced asthma
• Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis (a model for multiple sclerosis)

Meyer Pharmaceuticals has developed a new process for the manufacture of MP8 at a scale suitable for human testing.  A Phase I trial is in the planning process for 2008.
