Michael F. O’Neill is the Chief Executive Officer of Meyer Pharmaceuticals. He played the central role in establishing company strategy and in acquiring and developing our core technologies. He continues to actively manage the Meyer’s research programs, corporate development, and intellectual property activities. He holds a Jurist Doctor degree from the University of California Berkley Boalt Hall School of Law, and is a licensed attorney. Before joining Robert Meyer in 1991, Mr. O’Neill was a management consultant with Touche-Ross (now Deloitte and Touche), and was also in private legal practice in the field of mergers and acquisition.
Ryan Rauch was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Meyer Pharmaceuticals in April, 2008. He came to us from National Securities, where he was head of Life Sciences Investment Banking. He provides strategic healthcare consulting services for the health industry, and has been a top-ranked research analyst for investment banks and institutional securities firms including Jeffries, SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, and CIBC.
Tetsuya Gatanaga, Ph.D. is Executive Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer, and co-inventor of Meyer’s anti-inflammatory protein therapies. Dr. Gatanaga joined Meyer Pharmaceuticals in 1996. He is actively involved in our technology transfer activities, and oversees all scientific programs at Meyer. He was previously at the University of California, Irvine in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, where he conducted research into the regulation of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF.
Matthew Smith is Chief Business Officer. Prior to joining Meyer, he was Managing Director of LF Technology, LLC, a biotechnology company focused on anti-infective proteins. Mr. Smith spent the first 15 years of his career with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in various sales, marketing and management capacities.
Michael Schiff, Ph.D., M.B.A., is Vice President of Intellectual Property. A research immunologist and cell biologist by training, Dr. Schiff has been licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office since 1995. Prior to joining Meyer in 1999, Dr. Schiff practiced biotechnology patent prosecution and management for 5 years in the Palo Alto office of the law firm Morrison and Foerster LLP.
Leslie McEvoy, Ph.D. is an independent drug development consultant for Meyer Pharmaceuticals. Previously, Leslie was senior vice president, research and development, at Anesiva (formerly Corgentech) where she was project team leader for their NF-kB Decoy for atopic dermatitis and NCE for topical treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia and neuropathic pain, and an NCE for post-surgical pain and musculoskeletal pain. Prior to joining Anesiva, Dr. McEvoy was program director of chemokine research and development and Senior Principal Scientist at DNAX Research Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Inc (owned by Schering Plough Corp).
